DETAILED ITINERARY
DAY 1; TRANSFER TO LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK
Depending on your location the safari guide will meet you and brief you about the safari. After the briefing, you will embark on the journey to Lake Mburo national park which is the smallest protected area in Uganda. You will have a stopover at the Uganda equator to buy souvenirs, take photos and later proceed with the journey to the national park. On arrival, you will have lunch and then later head for an evening game drive where you will spot animals such as buffalos, warthogs, waterbucks and giraffes among others. After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for dinner and a night stay.
DAY 2; MORNING GAME DRIVE AND AFTERNOON BOAT CRUISE
After having an early morning breakfast, you will have a morning game drive within the park where you will spot animals such as zebras, elands, warthogs, giraffes, impalas and buffalos among others. After the morning game drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, you will go for an amazing boat cruise on Lake Mburo where you will spot animals such as hippos and Nile crocodiles in water, buffalos, warthogs, antelope’s drinking water as well as water birds such as rare shoebill stork, hornbills, bee-eaters, fish eagles and cormorants. After the boat cruise that takes 2 hours, you will return to the lodge for dinner and a night stay.
DAY 3; TRANSFER TO QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
In the morning, after the morning breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and embark on the journey to Queen Elizabeth national park. On arrival, you will check in your lodge for lunch. After lunch, you will have an afternoon game drive where you will view animals such as warthogs, elephants, waterbucks, bushbucks and Uganda kob among others. After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for dinner and night stay.
DAY 4; MORNING GAME DRIVE/ LION TRACKING AND AFTERNOON BOAT CRUISE
After having an early breakfast, you will be transferred to the park for a morning game drive or lion tracking experience in kasenyi plains. While on the game drive, you will spot animals such as lions, buffalos, elephants, Uganda kob, warthogs and waterbucks, bird species such as great white pelican, collared pratincole, black bee-eater, broad-billed roller, African fin foot and African skimmer among others. After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, you will have an amazing boat cruise along kazinga channel which connects Lake Edward and George. While on the cruise you will have amazing views of hippos and crocodiles in water, elephants, buffalos along the shores and birds such as kingfishers, bee-eaters, fish eagles among others. After the boat cruise you will head back to the lodge for a relaxation, dinner and night stay.
DAY 5; CHIMPANZEE TREKKING IN KYAMBURA GORGE AND TRANSFER TO LAKE BUNYONYI
Early in the morning, you will have breakfast and head to the park headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you will head into the gorge in search of the habituated chimpanzees. The trekking takes 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on the location of the chimpanzees. Once the chimpanzees are found, you will spend an hour with them as you watch them play, hunt, fight, feed and breastfeed as you take photos and record the amazing moments. After the chimpanzee trekking, you will return to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, you will check out of the lodge and get transferred to Lake Bunyonyi in kabale. Lake Bunyonyi is known to be the second deepest lake in Africa and it has 29 islands and a number of bird species. On arrival you will check into the lodge for dinner and a night stay.
DAY 6; CANOEING AND CULTURAL TOUR
On 6th day of your 7 days Queen Elizabeth, Lake Bunyonyi and Lake Mburo safari, After morning breakfast, you will go for canoe ride which is done in a scooped tree dugout canoe. While on the canoe ride that takes 2 hours, you will explore some of the islands such as the punishment island where girls who weren’t married and got pregnant were taken to die of hunger as a way of punishing them, amazing views of kigezi hills, beautiful scenery, bird species among others. After the exciting canoe ride, you will drive back to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, you will have an interesting and amazing cultural tour where you will visit the Batwa and bakiga people. While on the cultural tour, you will learn about the local peoples culture, tradition, way of living, cooking their traditional dishes, listen to their ancient stories as well take part in their traditional performances among others. After the cultural tour, you will return to the lodge for dinner and a night stay.
DAY 7; TRANSFER BACK TO KAMPALA
After having morning breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and embark on the journey back to Kampala. While on the journey, you will have enroute lunch in mbarara town and proceed with the journey. On arrival the safari guide will drop you off at the Entebbe international airport for your flight back home or any place of convenience.
