4 days Queen Elizabeth birding safari is a very amazing adventure for bird lovers. This Uganda safari takes you to Queen Elizabeth national park which is the second largest national park in Uganda as well as the top birding destinations. The national park is a home to over 600 recorded bird species which range from migratory, endemic, forest and aquatic birds.

Day 1; Transfer to queen Elizabeth National Park

Day 2; Game drive and afternoon boat cruise on kazinga channel

Day 3; Bird watching in kyambura gorge and ishasha sector

Day 4; Bird watching in katwe and transfer back to Kampala

DETAILED ITINERARY

DAY 1; TRANSFER TO QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

Depending on your location, you will be picked up by the safari guide and brief you about the safari. After you will embark on a journey to Queen Elizabeth national park. You will have a stopover at the equator where you will buy craft souvenirs and another stop over will be at the igongo cultural center in mbarara for lunch. After lunch you will continue with the journey. On arrival you will head for the evening game drive in the mweya peninsular where you will view animals and bird species such as swamp nightjar, African mourning dove, grey headed kingfisher, red chested sunbird among others. After you will drive and check into the lodge for dinner and a night stay.

DAY 2; GAME DRIVE AND AFTERNOON BOAT CRUISE ON KAZINGA CHANNEL

After your morning breakfast, you will head for the morning game drive in kasenyi plains where you will be able to spot animals in their active status. View birds such as African wattled plover, hooded vulture, African white backed vulture, long created eagle, yellow throated long crow among others. After you will head back to the lodge for lunch.

After lunch, you will head for a boat cruise on kazinga channel which connects Lake Edward and Lake George. The ride takes 2 hours where you will have views of hippos, crocodiles and aquatic bird species such as pink backed pelicans, long tailed cormorants, open billed stork, African shoebill, and saddle billed stork, African skimmer among others. After the cruise you will drive back to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and a night stay.

 DAY 3; BIRD WATCHING IN KYAMBURA GORGE AND ISHASHA SECTOR

Early in the morning after breakfast, you will be transferred to kyambura gorge which is found in the north eastern part of Queen Elizabeth national park for bird watching. During the bird watching safari you will view birds like vereux eagle, African skimmer, white winged warbler, African broadbill, papyrus gonolek among others. While at kyambura gorge, you will spot primates, mammals and butterflies among others. After the bird watching, you will drive back to the lodge for lunch.

After lunch you will head to the ishasha sector in the south of Queen Elizabeth national park. You will spot birds such as brown snake, African crake, lappet faced vulture, black bellied bustard, African crowned eagle, broad billed roller, white headed barbet, Senegal plover among others. After you will head back to the lodge for a relaxation, dinner and a night stay.

DAY 4; BIRD WATCHING IN KATWE AND DEPARTURE

In the morning after having breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and the driver guide will transfer you to katwe where you will see a number of crater lakes such as Lake Munyanyange, Lake Katwe among others. Katwe is a home to a number of bird species such as lesser flamingos, little stint, broad tailed warbler, pallid harrier, southern red bishop, croaking cisticola, common greenshank and many more. After birding in katwe, you will embark on a journey back to Kampala with enroute lunch in fort portal. After lunch you will proceed with the journey to Kampala and on arrival, you will be dropped off at the airport for your flight back home or any place of advice.
