DETAILED ITINERARY
DAY 1; ARRIVE IN KIGALI
Upon reaching Kigali, you will be received by the guide have a small briefing about the Rwanda safari and after embark on a journey to Kigali city and check in a hotel. After, you will head to a city tour by visiting places such as Kigali genocide memorial, kimironko market and many more. After you will head back to the hotel, have dinner and a night stay.
DAY 2; TRANSFER TO AKAGERA NATIONAL PARK AND IHEMA BOAT CRUISE
After breakfast early in the morning, you will have a drive to akagera national park a home to the big 5 and it’s the only savannah park within Rwanda. Akagera national park is a home to wildlife species such as lions, leopards, elephants, cape buffaloes, rhinos, topis, oribis, impalas, cape elands among others. After that head back to the lodge and have lunch.
After lunch, you will head to Lake Ihema for a boat cruise experience. During the boat cruise, you will spot animals such as hippos, crocodiles as well as bird species that live on the shores of the lake such as shoebill, African wattled plover, giant kingfisher, water thick-knee among others. After you will return to the hotel for dinner and a night stay
DAY 3; EARLY MORNING GAME DRIVE AND TRANSFER TO VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK
Early in the morning, you will head to the national park for a morning game drive where you will spot a number of animals as they are still active such as lions, leopards as well as wild African dog as they are looking for a morning hunt. After the game drive you will drive to the lodge and freshen up as well as have late breakfast. After you will head to the volcanoes national park which is a great home to the endangered mountain gorillas an enroute lunch while on the way. After reaching ruhengeri in the evening, you will check in your lodge and have a night stay.
DAY 4; GORILLA TREKKING IN THE VOLCANOES
Early in the morning after breakfast, you will head to the national park headquarters for an adventurous mountain gorilla trekking experience. After reaching at the parks headquarter you will have a briefing from the guides as well as the rules and regulations and after split in the group of 8. After you will head to the forest in search of the gorillas, the trekking takes about 2 to 6 hours depending on the movement of gorillas and after spend an hour with the gorillas as you monitor their behaviors and feeding patterns.
After, you will head back to the lodge for dinner and night stay.
DAY 5; RETURN TO KIGALI AND DEPARTURE
After breakfast in the morning, you will embark on a journey back to Kigali and have a brief city tour and later be transferred to the airport for your flight.
