6 days virunga package takes you to Congo in the virunga national park where you will have a double mountain trekking experience as well have a visit at the lwiro chimpanzee sanctuary where you will spend the whole day trekking the chimpanzees. Besides the chimpanzees, you will visit the senkwekwe gorilla orphanage as well which makes the safari a memorable one.

DETAILED ITINERARY
DAY 1; ARRIVAL IN GOMA
You will be picked from Kigali and transferred to gisenyi where you will cross the border at Le Grand Barrier into democratic republic of Congo with enroute lunch. You will acquire the gorilla trekking permits at the border and head to lodge where you will spend the rest of the day as you prepare for the next day activities.
DAY 2; TRANSFER TO VIRUNGA NATIONAL PARK
In the morning after having breakfast, you will checkout of the lodge and embark on the journey to virunga national park. On arrival, you will head to your lodge for a relaxation and have lunch. After lunch, you will have a walk around the resort where you will have a chance to see birds. After the walk, you will head back to the lodge for a relaxation, dinner and a night stay.
DAY 3; GORILLA TREKKING IN VIRUNGA NATIONAL PARK
You will have breakfast and head to bukima ranger post for a briefing. After the briefing, you will walk into the forest with the ranger guides to look for the mountain gorillas. You will walk for 2 to 4 hours up to the gorilla family. Once the mountain gorillas are located, you will spend an hour with them as you watch them play, feed, breast feed and hunt. After the trekking, you will return back to the lodge for lunch. After lunch you will spend the rest of the evening at the lodge relaxing from the previous days activities as you wait for dinner and a night stay.
DAY 4; SECOND GORILLA TREKKING
After morning breakfast, head to bukima ranger post for another chance to see the mountain gorillas of virunga national park. You will go for a briefing and then after proceed into the forest. You will chose to trek the gorilla family that you trekked previously or another gorilla family. Once the gorillas are located you will spend an hour with the gorillas as you take pictures. After the trekking, you will exit the forest and go for lunch.
After lunch, you will spend the rest of the day at the senkwekwe gorilla orphanage or at the virunga headquarters and after you will return back to the lodge for dinner and a night stay.
DAY 5; VISIT LWIRO SANCTUARY
Early in the morning, you will head to the sanctuary to trek the habituated chimpanzee. The sanctuary is where the orphaned and harmed chimpanzees are rescued and taken care of. The sanctuary is a home to various chimpanzees as well as other primates. The sanctuary visit takes a full day then thereafter, you will head back to the lodge for a refreshment, dinner and a night stay.
DAY 6 TRANSFER BACK TO KIGALI
After morning breakfast, you will head to Kigali and have a city tour which includes visiting the kimironko market and the Kigali genocide memorial sites before being dropped off at your agreed upon location.
