DETAILED ITINERARY
DAY 1; TRANSFER FROM KIGALI TO VIRUNGA NATIONAL PARK
In the morning after breakfast, the safari guide will meet you and brief you about the safari and embark on the journey to the Democratic Republic of Congo. You will use the Grande Barrier border where the tourism office of virunga. After the clearance, you will receive your permits for the next day activities and head out to virunga national park. On arrival, you will head to your lodge and check in for a relaxation, dinner and a night stay.
DAY 2; MOUNTAIN GORILLA TREKKING IN VIRUNGA NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, you will head to the parks headquarters for a briefing at Bukima ranger post. After the briefing, you will head into the forest in search of the mountain gorillas and it take 2 to 6 hours depending on their location. Once the gorillas are located, you will spend an hour with them as you watch their behaviors such as feeding, breast feeding, playing among others. After the trekking, you will head back to the lodge for a relaxation, dinner and night stay.
DAY 3; SECOND GORILLA TREKKING
In the early morning after breakfast, you will head to the parks headquarters for a briefing as the day before. After the briefing, you will enter the forest and search for the habituated gorillas. After the gorillas are located, they will spend an hour with them as you watch their behaviors. After, you will head back to the lodge for lunch. Later in the evening, you will spend it cooling off from the activities in the past two days. After, you will have dinner and a night stay.
DAY 4; CHIMPANZEE TREKKING IN VIRUNGA NATIONAL PARK
Early in the morning after breakfast, you will head to the parks headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing you will enter the forest in search of the habituated chimpanzee’s family. You will spend 4 hours within the forest and after the trekking, you will head back to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, you can visit the virunga tourism headquarters or the Senkwekwe gorilla orphanage. After you will return to the lodge for dinner and night stay.
DAY 5; TRANSFER BACK TO KIGALI
After your breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and embark on the journey back to Kigali. You will connect to Goma Grande Barrier border and exit Congo. You will proceed to Kigali and be dropped off at your communicated drop off or international airport for your flight back home.
