6 Days Congo Primates And Nyiragongo Hike Safari introduces you to the most adventurous home of the eastern lowland gorillas within Kahuzi Biega national park in Bukavu and have a cruise on Lake Kivu and connect to Goma where you will head to Virunga national park where you will get to spend an hour with the Mountain Gorillas and later hike Mount Nyiragongo.

DETAILED ITINERARY
DAY 1; TRANSFER TO BUKAVU
After an early morning breakfast, the safari guide will pick you and brief you about the safari. After the briefing, you will embark on the journey which takes 7 hours with enroute lunch and continue to bukavu. On arrival, you will check into the hotel, wait for dinner as you rest and prepare for the next day activity.
DAY 2; EASTERN LOWLAND GORILLA TREKKING IN KAHUZI BIEGA NATIONAL PARK
After your early morning breakfast, you will be transferred to Kahuzi biega national park for a briefing. After the briefing, you will head to the forest in search of the habituated eastern lowland gorillas for almost 5 to 6 hours. Once the gorillas are located, you will spend an hour with them as you watch them play, breastfeed, hunt and feeding patterns among others as you take pictures and record each moment. After the trek, you will head back to the lodge for a relaxation, dinner and a night stay.
DAY 3; TRANSFER TO GOMA AND TRANSFER TO VIRUNGA NATIONAL PARK
After morning breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and head to bukavu port where you will sail along Lake Kivu and transfer to Goma on a speed boat. On arrival, you will be transferred to Grande Barrier for clearance with the Virunga national park management. After, you will have lunch and head to Virunga national park through Rumangabo and head to your lodge for dinner and a night stay.
DAY 4; MOUNTAIN GORILLA TREKKING
After breakfast in the early morning, you will be transferred to Bukima police post for a briefing about the necessary information that one needs before heading into the forest. After, you will start to search for the endangered mountain gorillas through different trails. Once the gorillas are found you will spend an hour with them as you watch their behaviors and take photos and record the memories. After the trekking, you will return back to the lodge for a relaxed evening, dinner and a night stay.
DAY 5; NYIRAGONGO HIKE
You will have early morning breakfast then head to kibati ranger post for a briefing about mount nyiragongo which is popular for being the most active volcanic mountain among the 8 volcanoes in the Virunga massif. After, you will start off the hike which takes 6 to 7 hours depending on the fitness level of the hikers. You will have a stopover twice to have your packed lunch as well as relax and proceed to the summit late in the evening where you will have a night as you watch the active and boiling lava lake.
DAY 6; DESCEND NYIRAGONGO AND TRANSFER BACK TO KIGALI
After morning breakfast, you will start to descend from the top of mount nyiragongo back to kibati. Descending takes 3 to 4 hours and on arrival at kibati, you will be transferred to Kigali with enroute lunch and have a city tour at the genocide memorial sites, markets and finally at Kigali international airport for their flight back home or any place of advise.
