8 days Rwanda and Nyiragongo hiking safari is an amazing gorilla trekking and hiking adventure safari which takes place in Rwanda and Congo. You will get to encounter the endangered mountain gorillas, eastern lowland as well as have a hike at mount Nyiragongo.

DETAILED ITINERARY
DAY 1; TRANSFER TO VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK
The safari guide will pick you and brief you about the safari. After the briefing, you will embark on the journey to volcanoes national park. While on the journey, you will have a city tour within Kigali town with enroute lunch. After lunch you will proceed up to the volcanoes. On arrival, you will check into your lodge for dinner and a night stay.
DAY 2; GORILLA TREKKING
Early in the morning after breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for a briefing. The trekking lasts for about 2 to 6 hours and thus after the briefing, you will enter the forest in search of the mountain gorillas. Once the gorillas are located you will spend an hour with the gorillas as you learn more about them. You will take photos and record moments with them. After the trekking you will return to the lodge for late lunch.
Later in the afternoon, you will have a community walk around in the neighboring communities. You will interact with them and as well learn their way of living. After you will return to the lodge for dinner and a night stay.
DAY 3; TRANSFER TO BUKAVU IN CONGO
In the morning, you will have breakfast and check out of the lodge then embark on the journey to bukavu in Congo. While on the journey, you will visit the king’s palace in Nyanza, genocide sites as well as national museum in Butare with enroute lunch. On arrival, you will check into the lodge for a refreshment, dinner and a night stay.
DAY 4; LOWLAND GORILLA TREKKING
Early in the morning after breakfast, you head to kahuzi beiga national park headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you will head into the forest in search of the eastern lowland gorillas. Once they are located, you will spend an hour with them as you take pictures as well as record moments. After the trekking, you will return to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, you will have a nature walk in the kahuzi beiga and visit the Tshibati waterfalls, bukavu town visit, mbayo tea plantations as well as the research center. After the visits, you will return to the lodge for a relaxation and a night stay.
DAY 5; TRANSFER TO GOMA AND VIRUNGA NATIONAL PARK
After having morning breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and head to goma city. On arrival to goma city, you will have lunch and then proceed to Virunga national park. On arrival, you will check into your lodge for a refreshment, dinner and a night stay.
DAY 6; MOUNT GORILLA TREKKING AT VIRUNGA NATIONAL PARK
Early in the morning after breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing you will head into the forest in search of the gorillas. On locating the gorillas, you will spend an hour with the mountain gorillas as you learn more about their day to day activities. After the trek you will return back to your lodge for a relaxation, dinner and night stay.
DAY 7; MOUNT NYIRAGONGO HIKE
You will have breakfast and head to the parks headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing you will start the hike up to the summit of the mountain. On arrival at the summit, you will spend the evening enjoying the view from the crater as you watch the lava boiling. You will spend the night at one of the shelters at the crater.
DAY 8; DESCEND NYIRAGONGO AND TRANSFER BACK TO KIGALI
After having breakfast, you will descend mount nyiragongo and transfer to goma then later head to Kigali city where after you will be dropped off at the international airport for your flight back home.
