DETAILED ITINERARY
DAY 1; TRANSFER TO VIRUNGA NATIONAL PARK FROM KIGALI
The driver guide will pick you from your location, then have a briefing about the safari. After you will have a drive to Goma via Grande barrier border and head to the Virunga park headquarters and get your trekking permit and then check into your lodge, have dinner and a night stay.
DAY 2; GORILLA TREKKING IN VIRUNGA NATIONAL PARK
After an early breakfast, the guide will take you to the parks headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you will start the trekking from Bukima police post in search for the endangered mountain gorillas. The gorilla trekking in Congo takes 30 minutes to 6 hours depending on their location. However, during the trek, you will be able to spot other primates, mammals, birds, butterflies among others. After finding the gorillas, you will spend with them an hour as you take photos and videos. After, you will return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, you will checkout of the lodge and be transferred to Gisenyi for a relaxation along the shores. After you will check into the lodge and have dinner and night stay.
DAY 3; EXPLORE LAKE KIVU AND TRANSFER TO NYUNGWE FOREST NATIONAL PARK
Early in the morning, you will have your breakfast and check out of the lodge. Then head to Lake Kivu, after exploring the largest lake in Rwanda you will head to nyungwe forest national park. Along the way, you will have lunch and proceed to the national park. On arrival, you will check in your lodge for dinner.
DAY 4; CHIMPANZEE TREKKING AND CANOPY WALK IN NYUNGWE FOREST
After morning breakfast, the driver will take you to the park’s headquarters for a briefing where after you will enter the forest in search of the habituated chimpanzees. While on the trek, you will be able to spot other primates, mammals, bird species and butterflies among others. After locating the chimpanzees, you will spend with them an hour as you take photos and videos for memories. Thereafter, you will head back to the lodge and have lunch.
After lunch, you will head back to the forest for a canopy walk which is the best experience ever. The walk takes about 2hours and after you will be dropped back to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and a night stay.
DAY 5; DRIVE BACK TO KIGALI
A relaxed breakfast and after check out of the lodge and embark on the journey back to Kigali. An enroute lunch before reaching Kigali. After reaching you will have a city tour as you explore some of the places such as Kimironko market, craft shops and the genocide memorial site. After you will be dropped at the airport for your flight or hotel.
