DETAILED ITINERARY
DAY 1; TRANSFER TO VIRUNGA NATIONAL PARK
On arrival at the airport, the safari guide will pick you and brief you about the safari. After the briefing, you will embark on the journey to virunga national park via Goma Grande Barrier border. On arrival you will head to the parks headquarters for the gorilla trekking permits and later head to your lodge for dinner and a night stay.
DAY 2; GORILLA TREKKING
Early in the morning after having breakfast, you will head to the parks headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you will enter into the forest in search of the mountain gorillas. Once the mountain gorillas are located, you will spend an hour with them as you watch their behaviors. You will take photos and record moments. After the gorilla trekking, you will return to the lodge for late lunch and later check out of the lodge and drive to gisenyi for a relaxed evening at the shores of Lake Kivu. After, you will check into the lodge for dinner and a night stay.
DAY 3; TRANSFER TO NYUNGWE FOREST
In the morning after having breakfast, you will explore Lake Kivu and later check out of the lodge and embark on the journey to Nyungwe forest national park with en-route lunch. On arrival, you will check into your lodge for dinner and a night stay.
DAY 4; CHIMPANZEE TREKKING AND CANOPY WALK IN NYUNGWE FOREST
In the early morning after breakfast, you will head to the parks headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you will enter into the forest in search of the habituated chimpanzees with the help of the guide. Once the chimpanzees are located, you will spend an hour with them as you learn more about their lifestyle as you take photos and record moments. After the trekking, you will return to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, you will go for a canopy walk which takes 2 hours and later return to the lodge for dinner and a night stay.
DAY 5; TRANSFER BACK TO KIGALI
You will have a relaxed breakfast and checkout of the lodge and embark on the journey back to Kigali with enroute lunch. On arrival in Kigali, you will have a city tour and later proceed to Kigali international airport for your flight back home.
