The 5 days Nyungwe and Kahuzi Biega Gorilla Safari is a combined Rwanda as well as Congo safari which offers an opportunity to explore the Nyungwe national park as well as Kahuzi Beiga national park in the democratic republic of Congo. You will be able to trek the chimpanzees in Nyungwe and as well encounter the rare eastern lowland gorillas in Kahuzi Beiga national park.

DETAILED ITINERARY
DAY 1; TRANSFER TO NYUNGWE FOREST NATIONAL PARK
You will be picked by the driver from your hotel and enjoy the short city tour by visiting Kigali genocide memorial center, umusambi crane village and caplaki craft village among others. After you will proceed to nyungwe forest national park and have a stopover in Butare, where you will tour the national museum of Rwanda, king’s palace in nyanza. After lunch you will connect to your lodge in the evening for dinner as well as a night stay.
DAY 2; CHIMPANZEE TREKKING IN NYUNGWE AND CANOPY WALK
Early in the morning you will set off for the chimpanzee trek at 5am, have a briefing before you enter the forest in search of the chimpanzees. The chimpanzee trekking takes 3hours and locating them you will be able to spend an hour with them s you take photos and videos. After the trekking you will have lunch at the lodge.
After lunch, you will go for a canopy walk which is a swing bridge that is 50 meters in length suspended from the trees. You will be able to spot the rainforest, bird species, and wildlife moving within the forest. After you will head to the lodge for a relaxation, dinner as well as a night stay.
DAY 3; TRANSFER TO BUKAVU –DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO
In the morning after having your breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and embark on a journey to Rusizi II border to cross to Congo. You will check in into your lodge and have lunch as well as relax from the journey. In the evening you can have a community visit and later return to your lodge for dinner and night stay.
DAY 4; EASTERN LOWLAND GORILLA TREKKING IN KAHUZI BEIGA NATIONAL PARK
Early in the morning, after breakfast you will get prepared for the trekking of the eastern lowland gorillas. You will be driven to the park headquarters with an aim of seeing the primates. You will be briefed and then start on the hike to relocate the habituated gorilla family within the park. It takes 2 to 3 hours to hike the gorilla family depending on their location. After you will spend an hour with them as you take pictures and videos for memories. After you will return to your lodge and relax. Have dinner and a night stay at the lodge.
DAY 5; TRANSFER BACK TO KIGALI
You will wake up in the morning as you enjoy the views and breeze of Congo and after you will embark on the journey back to Kigali as you exit Kahuzi Biega national park as you cross the Congo-Rwanda border until Kigali where you will have lunch in the city and later dropped off at the airport or hotel as you will advise.
