The 3 days Rwanda gorillas and Dian Fossey hike is a great safari in Rwanda where you get to trek the endangered mountain gorillas within the volcanoes national park as well as the Dian Fossey grave where a number of species can be spotted such as elephants, primates and a number of bird species.

DETAILED ITINERARY
DAY 1; ARRIVAL AND TRANSFER TO RUHENGERI -VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK
The driver will pick you from your hotel or airport and transfer you to Ruhengeri which is just next to the volcanoes national park. The journey takes 2 to 3 hours from Kigali to musanze province. After you will be driven to the lodge and prepare for dinner and an overnight stay

DAY 2; GORILLA TREKKING IN VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK
Early in the morning after having breakfast, you will be driven to the national park headquarters at kinigi for a briefing on the endangered mountain gorillas from the park ranger. After you will start Rwanda Gorilla Trekking with the park ranger. The activity takes 1 to 8 hours in search for the gorillas depending on their location. When you meet the gorillas you will spend with them only an hour as you study their behavior such as their feeding patterns, how they play and breast feed among others. After the gorilla trekking activity, you will head to the lodge for lunch and freshen up.
After lunch, you will have a cultural tour to Iby’iwachu cultural village which is a non-profitable organization aiming at improving the lives of the people in the community. It’s as rewarding as you will enjoy the Rwanda tradition such as intore dance, traditional ceremonies. Thereafter, you will head to the lodge for relaxation, have dinner and a night stay.
DAY 3; DIAN FOSSEY HIKE AND TRANSFER BACK TO KIGALI
Early in the morning after breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters where you connect with the trial head. The trail will lead you to the park boundary as you connect to karisoke research camp where Dian Fossey lived, killed and buried. She was an American primatologist who dedicated her whole life conserving the mountain gorilla’s lives in the Virunga Mountains not until she was killed. Hiking to the graveyard of Dian Fossey takes an hour and half with amazing views of elephants, forest frogs, bird species as well as primates.
After the hike, you will go for lunch and head back to Kigali as you visit the Kigali genocide site as well as craft shops and later head to the airport for a flight back home.
