7 days Rwanda Primates safari takes you to explore the national parks in Rwanda as you will have game drives in akagera where you will spot wildlife, volcanoes national park where you will spend an hour with the golden monkeys and gorillas then proceed to nyungwe forest for the chimpanzee trekking. DETAILED ITINERARY
DAY 1; ARRIVAL AT KIGALI
On arrival at the airport, you will be picked by the safari guide and brief you about the safari. After the briefing, you will head to Kigali for a city tour with enroute lunch. After you will head to the lodge for a relaxation and prepare for the next day activities.
DAY 2; TRANSFER TO AKAGERA NATIONAL PARK AND IHEMA BOAT CRUISE
On the 2nd day of your 7 days Rwanda gorilla safari, in the morning, you will have breakfast and drive to akagera national park. On arrival you will check into the lodge and have lunch. After lunch you will embark on a boat cruise on the lake Ihema. While on a boat cruise you will spot animals such as hippos, crocodiles as well as bird species. After the boat cruise you will head back to the lodge and prepare for the next day activities
DAY 3; MORNING GAME DRIVE AND TRANSFER TO VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK
Early in the morning, you will head for the morning game drive where you will have a chance to spot animals in their active state. Animals spotted include bushbucks, hyenas, giraffes, leopards, elephants, buffalos and lions among others. After you will head back to the lodge and have lunch.
After lunch, you will check out of the lodge and drive to the volcanoes national park. On arrival, you will check into the lodge and freshen up as you wait for dinner and night stay.
DAY 4; GORILLA TREKKING
Early in the morning, you will have breakfast and head to the parks headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you will enter the forest in search of the endangered mountain gorillas with the help of the park rangers. The trek takes 2 to 8 hours and once the gorillas are located, you will spend an hour with them. After you will head back to the lodge, freshen up and wait for the next day activities.
DAY 5; GOLDEN MONKEY TREKKING
On the 5th day of your 7 days Rwanda gorilla safari , after your morning breakfast, you will head to the parks headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing you will head to the forest in search of the golden monkey trekking within the forest. Once they are located, you will spend an hour with them as you take photos and videos. After you will head back to your lodge for lunch.
After you will check out of the lodge and embark on the journey to nyungwe forest national park. On arrival you will check in your lodge for a night stay as well as dinner.
DAY 6; CHIMPANZEE TREKKING
Early in the morning after breakfast, you will be dropped to the parks headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing you will head into the forest in search of the habituated chimpanzees. Once the chimpanzees are located, you will spend an hour with them as you watch them play from the tree branches, breastfeed and their feeding patterns as you take photos and videos. After the trekking, you will head back to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, you will go on a walking trail to the canopy walk, a swing bridge which is 50 meters in length and suspended from the large trees. You will see the rainforest, birds and wildlife moving below you. After the canopy walk, you will head back to your lodge for dinner and night stay.
DAY 7; TRANSFER BACK TO KIGALI
After having your morning breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and embark on the journey back to Kigali. On arrival at Kigali, you will be dropped at the airport for your flight back home or any place of convenience.
