5 days Rwanda chimpanzee trekking safari introduces you to Nyungwe forest national park within Rwanda which is a home to the chimpanzees. While on the safari, you will spend time with the chimpanzees, have a canopy walk as well as a cultural tour.

DETAILED ITINERARY
DAY 1; ARRIVAL IN KIGALI CITY
On arrival at the airport, the safari guide will pick you and brief you about the safari. After the briefing, you will head to Kigali for a city tour where you will head to camp Kigali where 10 Belgian soldiers were killed a day before the genocide, Kigali genocide memorial and caplaki craft village among others. After the city tour, you will head to your hotel for a relaxation, dinner and a night stay.
DAY 2; TRANSFER TO NYUNGWE FOREST NATIONAL PARK
In the morning, you will have breakfast and check out of the lodge and embark on the journey to nyungwe forest national park. The journey takes 4 to 6 hours drive as you go through the beautiful and terraced rolling hills of Rwanda. You will have a stopover at Butare and visit the ethnographic national museum, Nyanza and murambi genocide memorial sites as well as the king’s palace. On arrival, you will check into the lodge for a relaxation, dinner and a night stay.

DAY 3; CHIMPANZEE TREKKING
In the morning after breakfast, you will head to the parks headquarters in uwinka where you will be briefed about the trekking. After the briefing, you will be grouped into 8 members and then enter into the forest in search of the habituated chimpanzee family. The national park has over 80 habituated chimpanzee families. Once the chimpanzees are located, you will spend an hour with the chimpanzees as you watch them play, feed, hunt and jump from one tree branch to the other as you take pictures and record memories. After the trekking, you will go back to the lodge for lunch.
Later in the evening, you can opt for a cultural tour within the nearby community where you will learn more about the Rwanda culture, interact with the local people as well enjoy the cultural performance from the local dance group.
DAY 4; CANOPY WALK AND GISAKURA TEA ESTATE
In the morning after having breakfast, you will head to the parks headquarters at uwinka center. This is where the hiking trip starts from which leads to the canopy walk away. Nyungwes canopy walk away is 9o meters long and 50 meters above the ground. While on the walk, you will have to look at the forest from the bird’s eye view as well get to experience the adrelin-charged 200m long series of walkways in the forest canopy. After the canopy walk, you will head back to the lodge for lunch.
In the evening, you can head to gisakura tea estate where you will be taken through the tea growing, harvesting, processing and packaging. You will as well taste the delicious taste of the final product. After the visit, you will head back to the lodge for a relaxation, dinner and a night stay.
DAY 5; TRANSFER BACK TO KIGALI
In the morning, you will have a leisure breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and embark on the journey back to Kigali. On arrival at Kigali city, you will proceed to the international airport for your flight back home.
