DETAILED TINERARY
DAY 1; ARRIVAL AT KIGALI AND TRANSFER TO GOMA
Upon reaching the airport, you will be picked by the guide where he or she will brief you about the whole safari. After the briefing, you will drive up to Goma in the Democratic Republic of Congo via Gisenyi for lunch. While on the way you will have amazing views of Lake Kivu the largest in Rwanda. Thereafter, you will check into your lodge and relax as you wait for dinner and a night stay.
DAY 2; MOUNTAIN GORILLA TREKKING
Early in the morning after breakfast, you will head to the Virunga National park headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you will enter the forest in search of the mountain gorillas. This takes around 2 to 3 hours and once they are located, you will spend an hour with them as you learn more about their behaviors. After you will head back to the lodge to relax and have lunch.
After lunch you can have a community walk within the surrounding area and thereafter head back to the lodge.
DAY 3; NYIRAGONGO HIKE
We shall wake up as early as possible so that we can head to the Nyiragongo active volcano. The trek starts at 10am after a briefing from the rangers and it takes about 6 hours to reach the summit depending on the fitness of trekkers.
DAY 4; DESCEND MOUNT NYIRAGONGO AND TRANSFER TO KAHUZI BIEGA
After having breakfast in the morning, we shall descend to the bottom of the mountain and transfer to kahuzi biega national park a home to the eastern lowland gorillas. Within the national park there is a lot of wildlife that you will encounter with the entire adventure. After you will check into your lodge and have dinner plus a night stay.
DAY 5; EASTERN LOWLAND GORILLA TREKKING AND DEPARTURE
Early in the morning after having breakfast, you will head to the national park headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you will head into the forest in search of the gorillas. After locating them, you will spend an hour with them as you take photos and videos. After the trekking, you will have lunch and then embark on the journey back to Kigali for your flight back home.
