The 4 days Kahuzi Biega lowland gorilla trekking safari takes you to bukavu in the Democratic republic of Congo for gorilla trekking within the Kahuzi Biega national park and later come back to Kigali. Kahuzi biega is the only national park that is a home to the lowland gorillas.

DETAILED ITINERARY
DAY 1; ARRIVAL AT KIGALI AIRPORT
After reaching at the airport, you will be picked by the guide and take you through a briefing about the Congo safari. After the briefing, you will set off to the city and have a city tour as well as the surrounding area. After you will be dropped to your hotel and relax as you wait for dinner and a night stay.
DAY 2; TRANSFER TO BUKAVU IN DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO
Early in the morning, you will head to Cyangungu border on the way to Bukavu in Congo. There will be a stopover at Butare where you will visit the museum of Rwanda, the king’s palace in Nyanza and the Rwanda genocide memorial site. After lunch you will proceed to Bukavu as you see the beautiful views of Rwanda hills, tropical forest of Nyungwe and a view of Lake Kivu. After reaching you will check in your lodge for relaxation, dinner and night stay.

DAY 3; LOWLAND GORILLA TREKKING
Early in the morning, you will head to the national park headquarters for a briefing and after you will head to the national park for the lowland trekking. With the help of the guide, you will search for the gorillas which takes 1 to 4 hours. The lowland gorillas have bigger families compared to the mountain gorillas. When you find the lowland gorillas, you will spend with them an hour as you see their behaviors. After you will head back to the lodge for relaxations, dinner and an overnight stay.
DAY 4; RETURN TO KIGALI FOR DEPARTURES
You will wake up early in the morning and have breakfast, then check out of the lodge and drive back to Kigali via Cyangugu border. After crossing to Rwanda, you will have lunch and then proceed up to the airport for your flight back home
