DETAILED ITINERARY
DAY 1; TRANSFER TO KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK
On arrival, the safari guide will pick you and brief you about the safari. After the briefing, you will embark on the journey to kibale national park with enroute lunch. On arrival, you will check into your lodge for dinner and a night stay.
DAY 2; CHIMPANZEE TREKKING AND BIGODI NATURE WALK
In the morning after having breakfast, you will head to Kanyanchu the park headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you will enter the forest in search of the habituated troop of chimpanzees. Once they are located, you will spend an hour with them as you watch them perform their day to day activities. After the trekking, you will return to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, you will have an evening guided nature walk in bigodi wetland sanctuary which is one of the best birders paradise. You will spot several primates, mammals, birds such as shoebill and other plant species. After the nature walk, you will return to the lodge for dinner and a night stay.
DAY 3; TRANSFER TO QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
After having a relaxed breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and then have a visit to amabere ga nyina mwiru caves and then embark on the journey to Queen Elizabeth national park which is famous for having the tree climbing lions as well as having a large population of crocodiles along the kazinga channel. On arrival, you will head to the lodge for dinner and a night stay.
DAY 4; MORNING GAME DRIVE AND AFTERNOON BOAT CRUISE
After breakfast, the safari guide will take you to kasenyi plains for an amazing game drive. You will spot a lot of wildlife species such as elephants, Uganda kob, buffaloes, lions and a number of bird species among others. After the game drive, you will head back to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, you will have an amazing boat cruise on the kazinga channel which takes 2 to 3 hours where you will spot a huge population of crocodiles, hippos as well as other mammals such as elephants, buffaloes and bird species. After the boat cruise, you will return to the lodge for dinner and a night stay.
DAY 5; LION TRACKING AND TRANSFER TO BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK
You will have morning breakfast and then head to the ishasha sector for a game drive where you will track the tree climbing lions. You will be accompanied by researchers, guides and doctors and thus you will be able to learn more about the lions. After the lion tracking, you will embark on the journey to bwindi impenetrable national park. And on arrival, you will head to your lodge for dinner and a night stay.
DAY 6; GORILLA TREKKING IN BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK
You will have an early morning breakfast and head to the park headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you will enter the forest in search of the habituated gorilla family. Gorilla trekking takes 30 minutes to 8 hours depending on their movement. Once the gorillas are spotted, you will spend an hour with them as you take photos and record moments. After the trekking, you will return to the lodge for a relaxation, dinner and a night stay.
DAY 7; TRANSFER TO LAKE BUNYONYI
After having breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and head to Lake Bunyonyi where you will spend the whole day relaxing and refreshing from the previous activities. While at the lake, you will have a canoe ride where you will explore different islands as well as have a walk on the shores among others. After the experience, you will head to your lodge for dinner and a night stay.
DAY 8; TRANSFER TO VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast in the morning, you will check out of the lodge and embark on the journey to volcanoes national park in Rwanda. You will have enroute lunch and on arrival you will obtain the gorilla trekking permit and then head to your lodge for dinner and a night stay.
DAY 9; GORILLA TREKKING IN VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK
After an early morning breakfast, you will be transferred to the parks headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you will be grouped into 8 people and allocated a gorilla family to trek. After, you will enter into the forest in search of the mountain gorillas with the help of the park rangers. Once the primates are located, you will spend an hour with them as you watch their behaviors and take photos as well as record moments. After the gorilla trekking, you will return to the lodge for dinner and a night stay.
DAY 10; GOLDEN MONKEY TREKKING IN VOLCANOES
After an early morning breakfast, you will head to the parks headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you will enter the forest in search of the golden monkeys. Once the golden monkeys are spotted, you will spend an hour with them as you take many photographs as well as record many moments. After the golden monkey trekking, you will return to the lodge for a relaxed evening, dinner and a night stay.
DAY 11; TRANSFER TO LAKE KIVU
After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and head to Lake Kivu where you will spend the whole day at leisure swimming, cruising on the boat, watching birds and having views of nyiragongo volcano within the virunga massif. After the experience, you will head to your lodge for dinner and a night stay.
DAY 12; TRANSFER TO KIGALI
In the morning after breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and embark on the journey to Kigali for a city tour where you will explore the genocide memorial sites, kimironko markets as well as other attractions in Kigali. After you will have lunch and later be dropped off at the international airport for your flight back home.
