Essential Requirements to go through Entebbe International Airport : Uganda’s main airport, Entebbe International Airport, is the nation’s only international airport until recently. In Uganda, there are now a number of recently recognised international airports, including Hoima, Kasese, Gulu, Arua, Kisoro, Mbarara, etc., although they are not yet sufficiently equipped to manage foreign aviation traffic. As a result, as of February 2025, Entebbe International Airport handles flights into and out of Uganda.

Entebbe Airport has gained attention at the beginning of 2025 but not for the right reasons. The Civil Aviation Authority, the airport management, has lost trust due to a flurry of charges regarding corruption and impunity at the airport.
Many travelers, particularly locals that had been first time fliers have come forward to narrate difficult tales of how immigration staff played on their ignorance as first time travelers to extort, frighten and malicious intent. Many passengers tell stories of how airport staff members concoct any weak justification to force the fearful and nervous passenger to pay a bribe or risk missing their safari. Too many passengers have missed planes due to inability to pay bribes.
Frustrated travelers have eventually started using the airports in neighboring Kenya (JKIA) and Rwanda (Kigali Airport) to depart.

The country’s and the airport’s senior authorities, who have been working to clean house and restore the airport’s reputation, have taken notice of the loud eruption.
First off, there are reports that numerous employees who were implicated in bribery and other wrongdoings and for which proof has appeared have been detained and fired from the airport.

What is the process of going through Entebbe Airport for departing passengers?
First security stop. This is the airport’s primary entrance. While the car is swiftly searched, passengers exit the vehicle to go on foot through the security scanner. Once the automobile has passed through the gate and the scanner has finished, the passengers get out and wait for the driver.
Car park access. The occupants proceed to the departure level while the automobile is parked in the public lot. If someone has to use a tram, there are ones available in the parking lot.
Second security stop on departure level. The passengers who are travelling and those who are not are divided at this point. Before entering a restricted area, the traveler must present their passport and ticket at this stage.
Hold Baggage check point. The Civil Aviation Authority runs the baggage through the screening apparatus.
Documents verification. The traveler gets in line and has their travel documents checked. The person must provide both their flight ticket, which indicates their destination, and their passport as proof of their legal identification. Additionally, the yellow fever card is provided (should the destination nation want it).
Check in counters and Baggage drop. The traveler shows their passport, ticket, or visa with a stamp for check-in after they have been cleared. Once immigration has checked and stamped your passport with your exit visa, airline check-in will provide you with a board pass and, if there is extra luggage, a receipt if it is left at the desk.
Immigration Desk. In charge of border control and the investigation of child and human trafficking. In order to obtain a boarding permit, hotel reservation, and exit visa or stamp, the passenger must show their passport.
Last security check. Before reaching the boarding gate, passengers must pass through this final security checkpoint, and any items that are forbidden will be taken from them.
Boarding gate: the passengers will be required to go the boarding gates, 20 minutes before the flight departure. Before boarding, the individual will go through one last inspection at the boarding gate entrance by the airline to make sure nothing has changed.
